Sofia Romão Oliveira

Law student – Federal University of Rondônia

I am a Law student at UNIR – Federal University of Rondônia, attending the 3rd period. I am a researcher at the group “Ethics and Human Rights UNIR/CNPq” and I am currently an intern at the Federal Public Defender’s Office. Something that defines me is my passion for discovering new places, people, and cultures, including new languages. In 2019 I did an exchange to Washington DC through the Young Ambassadors Program and in 2018 I participated in the English Immersion Program, in Brasília, both carried out by the US Embassy in Brazil, where I was able to learn more about leadership and social impact initiatives, as well as practice the English language. I have been doing volunteer work for a few years and currently participate in the EMAUS project, where I am responsible for teaching the Portuguese language to Venezuelan immigrant children, as well as promoting the culture of both countries. I am also vice-coordinator of the USBEA RO organization, in which I am responsible for elaborating, organizing, and executing, together with the Alumni group, social projects to be increased in the state of Rondônia.
